Squats: Every One is Not Alike

Squats: Every One is Not Alike

What is the best squat stance for you?

Have you ever wondered why when everyone in the gym is squatting, each squat set up and execution looks slightly different? Why does the person under the bar next to you have such a wide stance and their toes turned out? Or, perhaps you wondered why you can’t quite seem to sink your posterior down to your heels? The Squat is a quintessential exercise in every athlete’s toolbox but the variations in set up and execution will be as unique as the person squatting. It comes down to our bio-mechanics, and willingness to test and try what will work best for you.

My Favorite Exercise of All Time!

My Favorite Exercise of All Time!

What is the best exercise of all time? How do you make a claim like that and what does that exercise have to do for the body to fit that mold? For some strength coaches it's the squat, for some the bench press or the clean. I think all of those exercises have their place and there is a spot in my heart for the squat for sure, but that is not it. How we get from where you are to where you want to be. For all my general fitness clients, I use a training structure that is simple to use and gets great results. Which we will spell out for you in this article.

Food Options for Surviving the Holidays

I have used this plan with great success the last two years and I’d like to share some of the food items that help me keep the calories, fats, and carbs down during the day so that I can enjoy Thanksgiving dinner. You could make it through the day on veggies, protein shakes, and chicken breast, but here are some alternatives that can be a little more enjoyable.

Is Training Safe For Your Kids?

There are three phrases I hear time and time again about youth training – “Is is safe for my kids to be lifting weights?” “Doesn’t that stunt their growth?” “Will my children even benefit from strength training if they have not gone through puberty?” I can assure every parent not to worry about any of these factors; your children will be safe lifting weights.
